Methodist Ladies College once again hosted a fabulous night for our 4 Grand Final games. Fantastic night, terrific games, some brilliant performances. Thanks to everyone who made it such a memorable night – players, coaches, volunteers and a large number of spectators.
In Division 4, the Sharks team went through the season undefeated, and again put on a dominant display in the final game. We congratulate all players and wish several of the team the best of luck as they progress to Division 3 next season. The Redbacks were missing several of their key players but welcomed a few fill-ins to make up a combined team. Thanks to all who participated – you certainly made it a great night for both teams. Our Division 3 game had the new team, Vipers, up against a new look Thunder team (taken on 3 of the Helpmates players). Despite the excellent defence and height advantage of the Thunder players, the skills and strength of the Vipers was too much. Creating a dominant first half lead, the Vipers extended their lead into the second half. Vipers 42 def Thunder 20
The Division 2 game saw rivals Razors and Rapellas battle it out to the dying minutes of the game. The defence from both teams was intense with a massive 27 fouls called throughout the game – and a reminder of how important foul shots are to make. Congratluations to both teams on excellent seasons and also wishing several players good luck as they progress to the Championship level next season. Rapellas 18 def Razors 13
The night finished with our Championship grade and despite the skills and experience of the Rage team, it was Rogue Flare who won the game, the first premiership at this level for this team in many, many seasons. Congratulatuons to all of our young men and women who compete at this level, as we love to see such a high level of skills and commitment to your basketball. With the scores level at 18 all, at half time, a large crowd remained to see how the second half would play out.
