What a sensational night was had at the Auburn High School on Friday 27th October.  The 4 grand final games were terrific and watched by the biggest crowd of supporters that we have ever had in the stadium.  And the games and our players thrilled everyone with some excellent games of basketball.  Congratulations to all of the players and coaches – you earned the right to play in the final game and you all played so very well.

Division 4 – Ashwood Champs 12 def Sharks 8 – this was the closest game of the night but it was Ashwood who came from behind and eventually took the lead to win.  Sharks did a great job of shutting down the usual scoring power of the Ashwood team, but it just wasn’t quite enough.  Well done to both teams who have had some excellent games throughout the year, and this game did not disappoint the large crowd of onlookers.

Division 3 – Boomerangs 24 def Thunder 18 – The Boomerangs got off to a great start and it seemed like their fast paced game was going to be too much for Thunder who were missing one of their key players.  But the two talls – Brad and Tim, fired up late in the second half and it became a very close game.  Once again court 2 had a large crowd engaged right to the last seconds of the game.  Another thriller.

Division 2 – Rappellas 32 def Razors 24 – In our highest scoring game of the night these two teams showed just how strong and skilled our Division 2 is – with both teams shooting at a high percentage of fouls shots (54% & 62%), the large crowd did a lot of cheering.  The Rapellas took an early lead in the game but then had to fight hard to keep it and Razors never gave up – a great game !!

Victoria Championship – Roar 35 def Rogue Flare 10 – Our final game of the night did not disappoint.  The score certainly did not reflect the standard of the game, nor the commitment both teams put in.  The young men on both teams have shown an incredible commitment to each other and to the competition across the long Winter months, and it was very fitting that they played off in the grand final.
